Wisley Action Group JR
Published: 15 November 2019
We have received an update from the Wisley Action Group (WAG) following the JR Hearings which took place on the 5th, 6th and 7th November.
The WAG S113 Challenge against the Guildford Local Plan was heard over three days in the High Court by Sir Duncan Ouseley, a very experienced judge. The other two JR Challenges on behalf of Compton Parish Council and Jules Cranwell, our local West Horsley resident, were heard at the same time.
Essentially the main argument centres around the size of the buffer of housing need added to the actual need identified in the GBC Local Plan (i.e. the allocation of 14,602 homes against the 'objectively assessed need of 10,678 homes delivered over the plan period), and whether or not this represents an exceptional circumstance needed to justify the changing Green Belt boundaries.
Sir Duncan's wealth of experience was evident as he was completely on top of the case, asking searching questions of all parties. It is anticipated that there will be a well argued judgement sometime before Christmas 2019.
All three parties challenging the Local Plan did an excellent job in outlining arguments and they are all grateful for everyone's support. A further update will be issued when there is more news.
