The Village Hall is situated in the centre of the village and hosts every kind of function, from the monthly meetings of the Parish Council to children's birthday parties. Regular hirers are The WHIPS (drama group), the W.I., Puddleducks playgroup, various fitness classes, choirs, handicraft sessions, the Horticultural Society's shows and talks, adult and children’s dancing classes and all kinds of private parties.
There are two halls in the complex, joined by an internal foyer. The larger main hall was built in the 1920s with a major extension in the 1960s and the smaller Cedar Room in the 1960s; both have modern kitchen and cloakroom facilities, as well as access for the disabled. Adjacent to the Cedar Room is a children’s’ playground which is very well used, is safely fenced, and has seating for parents. There is also a small room (The Rubin Room) suitable for about a dozen people at a meeting.
The Halls are operated under the Deeds of a Trust and employ a Secretary/Treasurer and a Caretaker/Cleaner. The other members of the Management Committee are all volunteers and drawn largely from the regular hirers of the Halls. The Parish Council appoints one member of the Trustees.
To find out more, to book the hall or for an enquiry about the playground, please contact the Village Hall Secretary & Treasurer, Mrs Julia Reardon Smith:
Please do not contact West Horsley Parish Clerk in relation to Village Hall bookings or the playground as WHPC does not look after the bookings diary for the hall or have responsibility for the playground.
