TWENTY-FOUR CHICANES AND 20 MPH SPEED LIMIT PROPOSED FOR LONG REACH AS PART OF WISLEY DEVELOPMENT (22/P/01175)

You may not be aware that under new proposals for traffic management associated with their application to develop Wisley Airfield, Taylor Wimpey are seeking to install 24 (yes 24!) chicanes along Long Reach, and to reduce the speed limit to 20 mph in order to effectively convert it into a cycle path from the 2100 new homes proposed at Wisley to the Horsleys.

In addition, each chicane would have to have a streetlamp – in direct conflict with our ‘dark skies’ policy – and, amongst other complications and inconveniences to residents, would make the parking of cars for visitors to the football field and tennis court virtually impossible, as well as the obvious difficulty and danger of motor vehicles weaving in and out of the road to avoid cyclists and pedestrians.

Plans and details can be accessed at the Guildford Borough Council Planning Department website under reference no 22/P/01175, section 109.

Should you wish to register your objection, which the Parish Council would strongly urge residents to do, you are entitled to do so before the hearing begins on Tuesday 26th September. Please make sure your objections are received by Sunday 10th September so that the inspector can read them.
