Keeping People Safe at Home and in the Community

Physical, emotional and financial abuse can affect adults of any age but older people are particularly at risk. Everyone deserves to be treated with care and respect. If you think someone is being abused call the confidential helpline 0300 200 1005 or speak with your GP or healthcare professional.

For further information about the Surrey Safeguarding Adults Board, or to watch the film ‘Keeping People Safe at Home and in their Community’ visit surreycc.gov.uk/protectingadults.

 One Stop Surrey (Age UK)

If you know an older person who you feel may benefit from a little bit of support to keep them living safely and independently at home, they may benefit from completing the One Stop Surrey checklist. By completing a simple checklist with either a professional, family member or friend, a resident can indicate the kind of information and support they would be interested in receiving.

One Stop Surrey signposts to services such as home fire safety checks, befriending services and handyman schemes. The process offers an opportunity to support people who may not otherwise be in touch with statutory health and social care agencies.

For further information can be obtained via the website. Alternatively, you can send an email to [email protected] or write to One Stop Surrey Coordinator, Age UK Surrey, Rex House, William Road, Guildford, Surrey GU1 4QZ
